Frost Note
Frost Note is an offline unit converter for length, weight, temperature, volume, area and speed, with a kitchen tab that turns cups and spoons into grams for twenty-eight common ingredients. This page explains what the app does and does not do with your data.
Frost Note does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information. The release build has no network access at all.
Information we collect
None. There is no account, no sign-in, no registration form and no analytics. We never see your name, your conversions or anything else you type into the app.
Data stored on your device
To make the app work, Frost Note stores the following only on your device, using the operating system's local storage:
- Conversion history — the value, the units, the ingredient for kitchen conversions, and when each one was saved. Kept in a local SQLite database.
- Favourite pairs — the unit pairs you star for one-tap recall.
- Achievements — which badges you have earned and when.
- Preferences — decimal places, thousands grouping, metric or imperial default, reduced motion and your default measure family.
- Profile — the display name and avatar you pick, and the date you first opened the app. The name can be anything; nothing checks it.
- Intro flag — one true/false value recording that you have seen the first-launch intro.
This data never leaves your device. It is not uploaded to Frost Note or to any third party. Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage deletes all of it permanently.
Permissions
Frost Note requests no runtime permissions. The Android release manifest declares none — no internet, storage, camera, location or notifications. Copying a result puts that number on your clipboard only when you tap or long-press it; the app never reads the clipboard.
Network use
The app is fully offline. It contains no HTTP client, no socket code, no remote configuration and no SDK that phones home. Every unit factor and ingredient density is compiled into the app.
Third-party services
None are integrated: no advertising network, analytics provider, crash reporter or attribution SDK, and no cookies or tracking. The app bundles the Space Grotesk typeface under the SIL Open Font License 1.1; a bundled font is just a file and sends nothing anywhere.
Children's privacy
Frost Note collects no personal data from anyone, children included, so there is nothing to disclose, sell or share under COPPA or the GDPR rules for children. It has no ads, no in-app purchases, no user-generated content and no social features.
Your rights
Nothing is collected or transmitted, so there is no remote copy of your data to access, export or erase. Swipe a conversion away to delete it, change your name and avatar on the Profile tab, and uninstall the app to remove its database and preferences from the device for good.

If this policy ever changes, the date at the top of this page will be revised. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
